1. Weigh your words
The exact word can generate the right meaning in few characters. Use your thesaurus for interesting word options. If you have to choose between dull and monotonous, what would be more appropriate?
2. Embrace the verb
Utilise verbs for getting your message through. For instance, if you want to use the word, run, explore all the amazing alternatives you can use such as jog, sprint, dart, dash andhurry. The slight differences allow you to create more or less depth to the meaning of your communication.
3. Check adjectives and adverbs
Don't waste valuable real estate on descriptive words when your message can create as much impact without them. Moreover, reading about something described as wonderful does not convince anyone anyways!
4. KIS
Keep it simple, stupid is a principle and a lesson that almost everyone understands. At all times, limit your tweet to one idea or thought. Keep your messages pure and simple. Don't dilute them with conflicting concepts.
5. Write and rewrite
Start by writing what you want, then cut it down keeping your eye on the character count. With some practice, you will improve your technique and will be able to do it sooner and even in your head.
6. Adapt to the language
Twitter has specific rules for grammar that are entirely its own. You can skip words like which and that and your readers will be able to understand what you want to say.
7. No 'I' in tweeting
Remove all the irritating personal pronouns. Just saying going to music festival is sufficient, and you do not need to write I am, it is implied.
8. Tweeting is not like talking
You can say whatever is on your mind, but omit phrases used commonly in normal conversation. You won't be using phrases such as if you ask me or as a matter of fact.
9. Use link-letters
At times, you cannot get your entire message out in less than 140 characters, which is when you can write an intro and link it to the rest. Use link-shorteners such as Hootsuite, Tinyurl or Bit.ly to decrease the character count.
10.Say it with symbols
Keyboards usually permit creation of symbols with unique alt characters. You can use TwitterKeys to add symbols instantly such as, you gotta ♥ it.
11.Smaller words with bigger meanings
Try to use smaller words, since Twitter is not the place to impress others with your outstanding linguistic abilities or simply put your vocabulary. Use buy in place of purchase, use buy, and get instead of understand. You will save characters and time, and your message will be stronger.
12.Remember to have fun
Twitter is all about having fun, with word choices, through exercising your creativity and by weaving in your own unique personality.
Remember, as part of your social media strategy, make your tweets short and sweet!
